Under 11 Division 3

Semi Final - 08/08/09 - Moorebank vs Bossley Sports

Sorry folks that this is a week late coming to you, but I've just got over the doldrums... I didn't want to write anything... The game that we had to lose... and yes, we lost, 1-0.

Soccer is a game of many things... skill, tactics, etc., etc., etc., but the biggest thing that all teams need is luck on the day, and if you don't have it, you just don't have it. The boys looked good, they were fit, they were eager, but it was just one of those games.

We made a few positional changes that only strengthened our line up, and on the day they worked. As the law of averages go, out of about ten shots at goal, you would have thought one of them would have got in... we must have been working by the wrong law.. our's was Murphy's. In stages the boys played a little bit of panic football, although our boys were hungry, I think Bossley's boys were a little bit hungrier. They were looking for an easy meal ticket into the Grand Final. They had the luck today, they had a shot at goal and got it first time (although I always thought for a goal to be scored, the ball must completely cross the line...)

I have a great rapport with the Bossley coaches, and after the game they did state that the score line should have been more like 4-1 our way at half time.

Anyhow, no more mumbo jumbo about this game, we have more important things to worry about... like playing the Bulls in the final next week.

Having gone all season undefeated, all the boys were shattered by the loss. It brings back memories of last years final games, complacency sets in and it was dejavu seeing it all over again. Hopefully, with that loss the boys can work through this set back and make it count when it needs to be. None of the boys can be faulted for their game play. They didn't do anything wrong, they all played the same as they have all year, just today wasn't their day.

Short and sweet today... seeya later
